The Shapers of Worlds volume V paperback edition has been sent to authors and Kickstarter backers, and I got mine this month. I'm really happy with how everything came together and am grateful that I was able to be part of this final installment of the anthology. I haven't had a chance to dive in and read the other stories yet, but I flipped through the entire thing to see the art of each story and liked what I saw. March 25th 2025 will be the release date for everyone to get a copy, so I'm curious how it will be received. With so many authors (hopefully) promoting it, I think there is a decent chance that it might get some broad exposure.
Related, I was thrilled to see a review posted for The Magic of Deceit on the Witty and Sarcastic Book Club website. I'm happy that Jodie enjoyed the story, but even if she didn't I want to add my voice to the chorus of small press and independent authors that having someone talk about and review your book is so important to help it find an audience and I am thankful that she posted about it. I'm trying to do better myself with the books that I read to at least leave a star rating on Goodreads and/or Amazon, and when I think I have something worthwhile to add to write a short blurb for it. There are lots of great books that have thousands of reviews, so the addition of one more might not be noticed, but for those trying to build a fan base getting a (positive) review means the world.
February was a strong month for writing progress. Things seemed to click at night in terms of getting words on the page and I was able to make time to write most nights. This combo resulted in 17k words for the month, which I think is really good. That effort put my total word count up to 70k. Story-wise, I'm steadily building to the climaxes (yes plural), which helps maintain my personal excitement when writing.
Short update this month, but that's OK. I think that for part of March's update I'll talk about the new music that I've been listening to when I write and highlight a couple of the anthology stories that I enjoyed.
Thanks for stopping by.
